I hold a Hatha Yoga certification in the Vinyasa tradition. I primarily enjoy teaching strong, all-levels Vinyasa Flow classes. I call these classes “Mukti Movement” – translated this means “liberation movement.” My recipe for a yoga class (which I learned from the best):
- Understand the students in the room, what they need and how they are feeling today
- Practice safe sequencing
- Teach alignment
- Offer modifications for all levels
- Give lots of adjustment and massage (you’ll find me walking around the room rather than doing my own class)
- Make the sequence creative, incorporating unique movement to open energy rather than just “do poses”
- Focus on the breath
- Smile, it’s just yoga!
